Patients express gratitude for ‘Guardian Angels’
We often are asked by our patients, “How can I say thank you to the people who made a difference while I was in the hospital?” Longs Peak Hospital Foundation offers the Grateful Patient Program as a way for patients and their families to do just that.
Meet Larry Stauss, Longs Peak Hospital Foundation board chair
The foundation is fortunate to have community leaders, executives, volunteers and a highly qualified and talented staff devoting time and energy to sustaining our mission for a healthier community. One such person is Larry Stauss, who became chair of the board last year.
Our employees give to support our mission
At UCHealth, the culture of philanthropy is strong. Employees donate generously via our employee giving program to support our mission to deliver world-class health care. They also support each other through gifts to employee hardship relief and scholarship funds. Employees of Longs Peak Hospital and its affiliated clinics donated more than $97,000 over the past 12 months to support numerous causes.
Thoughtful sundries bring comfort to patients
The comfort cart at Longs Peak Hospital is funded by individual donors who support Longs Peak Hospital Foundation’s Patient Assistance Fund. The items on the cart are available for staff members to offer for alternative pain management and comfort for our patients.
Scholarships transform lives and communities
The generosity of private donors and community business partners, as well as many of our fellow employees, has enabled us to award more than $46,000 in scholarships to 34 UCHealth employees since 2018.

We are deeply grateful for the support our community has provided during the pandemic. From the bottom of our hearts, we thank the individuals and businesses that gave in-kind gifts—supplies, equipment, food, services and more—to support our health care heroes in the battle against COVID-19.
Grants from Longmont Community Foundation support our mission to improve lives
We are grateful to Longmont Community Foundation for two recent grants. The Longmont Community Foundation is dedicated to improving the lives of people in Longmont and the surrounding area. Our foundation received grants to help our health workers caring for the community during the COVID-19 pandemic and to provide education for new fathers.
Caring for those who care for others
As health care workers treat COVID-19 patients, they face the same disruptions and challenges to everyday life that many others are experiencing because of the pandemic. To support our health care heroes experiencing such challenges, UCHealth established the Health Care Worker Emergency Relief Fund. To date, the fund has assisted 155 of our employees experiencing hardship as a result of COVID-19.
Work of art expresses gratitude for our heroes
Our community has been incredibly generous to Longs Peak Hospital during the pandemic. Community member and local artist Basia Christ shared her gratitude for our health care heroes in a unique way. She created an 18-inch-by-24-inch acrylic painting titled “We Pray” for Longs Peak Hospital.
Medically necessary surgeries resume at UCHealth
On April 27, UCHealth began resuming a limited number of medically necessary surgeries and procedures. The decision is based on careful research and recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment.
