In the 2 1/2 years since Longs Peak Hospital’s opening, its connection to our community has become strong. That connection is integral in helping bolster and sustain our workers during this challenging time.
When COVID-19 began spreading in Colorado, community members immediately reached out to LPH with offers of support. Local restaurants demonstrated appreciation through donations of food for our workers. Community members staged pep rallies in the hospital parking lot. Firefighters honked their firetruck horns. People brought handmade signs and leaned out their cars to cheer for our staff at evening shift change. Our volunteers wrote thank you cards and created a video highlighting pet therapy dogs. Students from Mead High School created a video montage of band members’ heartfelt words of gratitude.
Boulder resident Brad Feld helped start a group called Make4Covid, a coalition to design, manufacture, and distribute essential equipment for Colorado’s front-line health care workers. An employee of LPH has a father who is part of the coalition. He is proud to be making face shields that protect his daughter and her colleagues. Another staff member’s parent donated gowns, gloves and N95 masks.
These are just a few examples of countless ways the community has helped in the fight against COVID-19.
Through community connection, Longs Peak Hospital staff members are resilient. Patients are getting better. Our entire community benefits. Thank you.
